Tom Felton/Chicago Comic Con Experience
8/11/2012 - I bought a Tom Felton VIP pass for Wizard World’s Chicago Comic Con, which came with an autograph ticket, a photo op tickets, and a seat in his Q&A panel. First thing I did was stand in line to get his autograph. Of course, when I finally got up to the table he was sitting behind was little Miss Chatty Cathy.
Me: Hi, I’m Ashlee. *shakes hand*
Tom: Hi, Ashlee, I’m Tom.
Me: *half laugh/half stutter thing* Oh, I am aware!
Tom: Well, I would feel rude if I didn’t introduce myself!
Me: Oh, okay! I’m actually fulfilling one of my New Year’s resolutions right now -
Tom: Yeah?
Me: Yeah, I’m from St. Louis which is about 5 or 6 hours away-
Tom: Oh yeah, I know St. Louis, sorry go on.
Me: Well, I did everything in my power to see Dan in How To Succeed last year and I actually met him and it was amazing. So I was like, “Okay, who’s next? Who comes to the states all the time?”
Tom: And I was next on the list?
Me: YEP. Exactly.
Tom: Well, I am honored.
Me: Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. *shakes hand again*
Tom: Thank you for coming out, it was nice to meet you, Ashlee.
Me: I’ve got a ticket for a photo op so I’ll be seeing you later!
Tom: All right, we’ll have some fun over there.So, I died after this amazing/lovely/adorable conversation, came back to life, then went to get a spot in the photo op line. Once things started kicking off over there I walked up to Tom again, looked him in the eye and said, “Hey! Long time no see!”
He smiled and laughed, we posed for the photo, and there was a moment that the camera lady was checking to make sure the photo looked all right and I just stood still next to Tom clutching his waist. I was definitely soaking up the moment. When she gave me a confirmation nod I looked up at him (I’m so short) and said, “Thank you so much!” and started to walk away.
He smiled and yelled after me, “Stay happy!”
I, being the schmuck I am, turned back around and said, “Don’t worry - I will!”

I couldn’t wait 7 whole days to post the actual JPEG of this, so here’s a picture of the picture that I took with Tom that I waited for 11 years for.
Here’s the story:My Mom: *sees Tom Felton walking in* Look, there he is!
Me: *sees how godly he is and grabs my friend and starts crying*
My bffl Casey: *shakes me* DO NOT CRY UNTIL AFTER THE PICTURE WITH HIM.
Me: *stops crying*
*le a few minutes later*
Me: *walks into photo op room, waits my turn, and walks up to Tom*
Tom: *looks at me and laughs while putting his arm around me* Are you okay?
Me: No, not really. *grabbing his side*
*le picture is taken and Tom turns towards me*
Me: Thank you so much Tom, this is my sweet 16 present!
Tom: *laughs* Oh, wow! Really? Happy sixteenth!
Me: Thank you! *walks away, out of the photo op room and cried my eyes out for a good 25 minutes, legit. people were stopping me to ask if I was okay in the middle of the insane comic-con convention going on*
We found out we needed to wait an hour for the picture so we decided to walk around the convention a little bit. We got to the part of the floor where all of the celebrities are signing autographs.My bffl Casey: Look, there’s Tom autograph session!
Me: *finds out it’s $40 and Casey points out that he’s already there* MOM, PLEASE! I’LL BUY NOTHING ELSE AT LEAKYCON IF I CAN GET THIS!
*my mom hands me the money and I wait in line. my bffl Casey is talking to Tom and mentions how we’re at Leakycon and he asked me how it was and how everyone is, etc, etc..*
*it’s finally my turn to get Tom’s autograph*
Tom: *looks at my name* Is it Laurie?
Me: It’s Laurel!
Tom: Oh, Laurel! Did you say it was your birthday?
Me: Well, my birthday is in 2 weeks but I came all the way here just to meet you for it!
Tom: No pressure or anything! *laughing*
Me: I’ve waited for this since 2001.
Tom: Whoa, 11 years! Seriously, no pressure on me to ruin your birthday or anything! *laughing more*
Me: You could never ruin my birthday!
Tom: Aww, well thank you!
Me: Ya know, when I was 6 I had a Slytherin birthday party and no one wanted to come because it was Slytherin. I was all like “Hey! Come on, let’s celebrate my birthday and Draco Malfoy!”
Tom: *laughing again* Well, at least someone has always supported me! *finishes the autograph*
Me: Tom, thank you SO much! Can I have a handshake?
Tom: *shakes my hand* No, thank you so much Laurel! Hopefully I’ll see you in many years to come!
Me: *still holding his hand* You will!
Tom and I: *smile at eachother one last time*
Me: *walks away and dies*Tom Felton is literally the most genuine and happy celebrity that I have ever met. I am so grateful that I got the chance to meet him twice, it was seriously THE best experience of my life.
